Saint Mary’s Rehabilitation Unit Earns Top National Recognition
October 26, 2026
Saint Mary’s Regional Health System is celebrating a significant achievement in rehabilitation care after its Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit earned the highest Performance Evaluation Model (PEM) score among Lifepoint acute inpatient rehabilitation hospitals throughout 2026.
The achievement places Saint Mary’s among the top five of 144 eligible Lifepoint-managed rehabilitation units nationwide.
The Performance Evaluation Model is a comprehensive measurement tool used to assess rehabilitation programs across key measures including quality, patient outcomes, operational effectiveness, regulatory compliance and overall program performance.
“This recognition is a reflection of the dedication our entire rehabilitation team brings to caring for our patients every day,” said Rehabilitation Program Director Kelly Hoyt. “Helping patients regain independence and return to the activities that matter most to them requires collaboration, compassion and a commitment to excellent care. We are incredibly proud of our team and what they have accomplished.”
Saint Mary’s Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides intensive rehabilitation services for patients recovering from serious illnesses, injuries and other conditions that have affected their ability to function independently. An interdisciplinary team works together to help each patient achieve the highest possible level of function and independence.
The recognition reflects the combined efforts of Saint Mary’s physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers and support staff, as well as the patients and families who are an important part of the rehabilitation process.
“Achieving and maintaining this level of performance throughout the year is an exceptional accomplishment,” said Casey Willis, chief executive officer. “Our team remains focused on providing high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitation care close to home for people throughout the River Valley.”
