Recognizing National Cancer Survivors Day

June 05, 2026

By Dr. Sam Hughes, Radiation Oncologist

Each year, National Cancer Survivors Day gives us a meaningful opportunity to reflect, honor and celebrate the lives of those impacted by cancer. It is a day dedicated to survivors—those who have completed treatment as well as those still in the midst of their journey. At Saint Mary’s, we are proud to walk beside our patients, their loved ones and our community, offering not only advanced medical care but also encouragement, compassion and hope every step of the way.

A cancer diagnosis can instantly reshape a person’s life. For those undergoing treatment, the road can be filled with physical challenges, emotional strain and moments of uncertainty. To each of you, your resilience does not go unnoticed. The determination you bring to each day is powerful and inspiring. And to those who have reached milestones beyond treatment, your experiences serve as a source of encouragement for others. You are more than survivors. You are thriving examples of strength and perseverance.

At Saint Mary’s, we see ourselves as more than a place of care. We are a team committed to supporting you throughout your entire journey. Our oncologists, nurses, therapists and support staff work together to provide personalized, compassionate care designed around each individual. From advanced radiation therapies, including the precision treatments I help deliver, to chemotherapy and supportive services, our goal is to care for the whole person—body, mind and spirit.

To every individual facing cancer and to every survivor moving forward, you are not walking this path alone. We are honored to be part of your story. At Saint Mary’s, we remain committed to fostering hope, supporting one another and looking ahead to brighter days.
