Saint Mary’s Receives Book Donation to Support Bereaved Mothers

February 23, 2026

Saint Mary’s recently received a meaningful donation from Immanuel Baptist Church of Little Rock: 25 copies of the book Refining Fire, written by Grace Jones, to provide comfort and encouragement to mothers experiencing infant loss.

Grace Jones authored Refining Fire following her own personal experience with loss. Through her story, she offers insight, faith and understanding for mothers navigating the profound grief that follows the loss of a child.

The donated books will be made available to bereaved mothers cared for at Saint Mary’s, serving as an additional resource during one of life’s most difficult moments.

“Infant loss is a deeply personal journey, and no mother should feel alone in her grief,” said Nicole Sweet, obstetrics scrub tech and bereavement support advocate at Saint Mary’s. “We are grateful to Immanuel Baptist Church and Grace Jones for providing a resource that speaks directly to the hearts of mothers walking through this experience.”

In addition to sharing these books with families, Saint Mary’s is working to expand support services for grieving mothers in the River Valley. Plans are underway to launch a community remembrance walk and a grief support group beginning in April.

By increasing awareness of infant loss and expanding available resources, Saint Mary’s continues its commitment to caring for families with compassion and dignity—in times of both celebration and sorrow—as part of its mission of making communities healthier®.
