Saint Mary’s Earns Three Statewide Stroke Awards
February 16, 2026
Saint Mary’s Regional Health System is proud to announce that its Emergency Department has received three statewide awards from AR SAVES (Arkansas Stroke Assistance through Virtual Emergency Support) for fiscal year 2025, recognizing excellence in stroke response, education and patient care.
Saint Mary’s earned the Best Door-to-Needle Time Award after achieving a treatment time of 17 minutes, a critical quality measure in stroke care that reflects how quickly patients receive life-saving treatment after arriving at the hospital. Registered nurse Carlee Minyard was recognized for her role in helping achieve this result, highlighting the efficiency and coordination of the Emergency Department team.
The hospital also received the Community Outreach Award for ongoing efforts to increase stroke awareness across the region. Led by Stroke Coordinator Tim Tanner, these initiatives focus on helping community members recognize stroke warning signs and understand the importance of seeking emergency care without delay.
In addition, the Stroke Champion Award was presented to registered nurse Shannon McGuire in recognition of her clinical performance, leadership and collaboration through participation in the AR SAVES Stroke Program.
“These awards reflect the commitment of our Emergency Department to providing timely, high-quality stroke care,” said Tim Tanner, stroke coordinator and nurse. “From rapid treatment to community education, this work makes a real difference for patients and families when every minute matters.”
As an Arkansas Department of Health–designated Stroke Ready Hospital, Saint Mary’s is equipped to provide rapid evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing a stroke, ensuring timely care close to home through established protocols, training and resources. Saint Mary’s remains focused on strengthening stroke care, supporting emergency teams and expanding education efforts to improve outcomes for patients throughout the River Valley.
