December 18, 2025
Saint Mary’s is proud to announce its DAISY Award honorees for the quarter, recognizing nurses and care teams whose compassion, dedication and professionalism make a meaningful difference for patients, families and colleagues.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is part of an international recognition program that honors the skillful and compassionate care nurses provide every day. This quarter, Saint Mary’s recognizes a DAISY Lifetime Achievement honoree, a DAISY Team Award recipient and an individual DAISY Award honoree.
Tina Smith, LPN, was recognized with the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award for nearly 40 years of service to Saint Mary’s. In her nomination, a colleague shared, “For almost 40 years, Tina has represented what a servant’s heart should be. If we ask Tina for help, even when she is busy, she will find a way to come to the rescue.” The nomination also noted the lasting impact she has made on families, adding, “She is part of many stories that parents will tell their children as they grow up, about when they came into the world.”
The Saint Mary’s Emergency Department received the DAISY Team Award for its exceptional teamwork and commitment to patient care in high-pressure situations. One nomination described how the team “maintains their poise, continues caring for every patient and then moves in harmony when a critical patient arrives.” Families shared that the team provides “a place of hope and joy even during possibly the scariest time,” praising them as “the team that never says no, or ‘it’s too much.’”
Chloe Rhoads, RN, of 4 East, was honored as an individual DAISY Award recipient for her compassionate care and dedication to both patients and families. A family member shared, “Anything my mom needed, she had as long as Chloe was there. She always made sure we were well informed, and she went over and above every time.” Another nomination highlighted Chloe’s commitment to education, noting, “She helped train me to take care of my mom’s wound, and for that I will forever be grateful.” Chloe was also recognized for her care of an inpatient hospice patient, where she was described as “extremely great with not only taking care of the patient appropriately for hospice level of care, but also in educating the family on hospice goals and the plan of care.”
In addition to this quarter’s honorees, Saint Mary’s would like to recognize the following DAISY Award nominees for their dedication and compassionate care: Ruth Jimenez, Claire Brock, Buffy Morris and Taylor Meier of the Women’s and Children’s Unit, and Jessica Ferguson of the Med-Surg Unit. Saint Mary’s is grateful for their commitment to patients and families and is proud to celebrate the meaningful impact they make every day.
