At Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, we work with Millard-Henry Clinic to offer childbirth classes that focus on many beneficial lessons: prenatal care, parenting, nutrition, breastfeeding and much more. Nursing mothers find support both before and after delivery from experienced Women’s and Children’s Services staff. A board-certified RN lactation consultant is available to aid breastfeeding mothers.
Prepared childbirth classes should be taken close to your due date, usually the seventh month or later. Please call one of the numbers below to register for the classes. Parents should dress comfortably.
Classes are held on the third Saturday of the month, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. with a breastfeeding class from 3 p.m.–4 p.m. in the Women’s and Children’s Services OB classroom on the third floor. There are no fees, and lunch and materials are provided. To register or to get a current schedule, call Debbie Ellis at 964-5436 or 964-9179.
For additional support, Saint Mary’s offers an online breastfeeding support group. Find us on Facebook or click here to join the conversation.
Everyone is excited about a new addition to the family, but often a sibling may have questions, fears and concerns. For children approximately two through 12 years of age, Saint Mary’s goodsiblings class prepares and reassures siblings for the arrival of their new family members. Children will learn about the maternity unit and important information on how to hold and properly care for a child. The class is held the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Women’s & Children’s Department, located on the third floor of the hospital. Classes are free, but you must pre-register.
Class photos are featured on Saint Mary’s Facebook page, so be sure to look for your precious goodsiblings and “share” the post with others. Like and follow us at facebook.com/saintmarysregional. Photo consent is required. You may opt out of the group photo if you prefer.
