Are you at risk for colon cancer? March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Saint Mary's Regional Health System wants to help you get the screenings you need to live a healthy life. Colon cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in America, but the disease is highly treatable if caught early. A colonoscopy can help detect bowel polyps before they become cancerous. With today’s preparatory medication, your colonoscopy can be easier and more comfortable than ever before.
This March, schedule a visit with your provider and ask if it’s time for a colon cancer screening. It’s suggested that individuals at higher risk should get their first colonoscopy at age 45.
"Not long ago I was admitted to the hospital with a serious -- urgent -- medical condition. From the moment I arrived in the ER, I was afforded diligent, exceptional care. Indeed, within minutes of my arrival at St. Mary's ER, I was undergoing a vital procedure.
Dr. Reinsvold and the entire cardiac team were consummately skillful and attentive. I never doubted for moment that I was in excellent hands. Over the days which followed, I had superb care in the ICU and then, on the newly renovated wing of the hospital.
Dr. Bledsoe, Dr. Vick, other attending physicians, nursing staff, indeed, the entire St. Mary's staff (administrative and medical), were models of courtesy, patience, and kindness. Everyone took the time necessary to answer our questions and see that we were getting the best possible care.
At my age, I've had the opportunity to interact with many hospitals, large and small, urban, and rural, across many years, and I can state confidently, that St. Mary's met and exceeded the care my family has experienced at these other facilities. I am very grateful that Russellville -- and the river valley -- have such an outstanding medical institution. "
Sincerely,
