Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has announced that Robert “Bob” Honeycutt will join its team as chief executive officer (CEO), effective April 27. Honeycutt joins Saint Mary’s from Ennis Regional Medical Center (ERMC) in Ennis, Texas, and Parkview Regional Hospital (PRH) in Mexia, Texas, where he has served as CEO since 2017. He will replace Scott Bailey, chief operating officer (COO) of Saint Mary’s, who has been serving as interim CEO.
“Bob has a track record of helping hospital systems navigate uncertain times and thrive,” said Robert Wampler, president of LifePoint Health’s Mountain Division, of which Saint Mary’s is a part. “We couldn’t be happier to have him on board at Saint Mary’s and look forward to working with him, as well as the staff, physicians and community to explore how Saint Mary’s can continue to grow the many ways it serves Russellville and the surrounding communities.”
A veteran healthcare leader, Honeycutt has worked in many communities to enhance hospitals’ financial performance, implement strategic plans, lead executive management teams, improve clinical outcomes, boost staff and physician recruitment and retention, and improve patient experiences. His background includes a broad range of healthcare leadership roles in a variety of settings and a strong track record of active community engagement.
Before joining Parkview and Ennis, Honeycutt served in numerous executive leadership roles, including market president and CEO of Dignity Health Arizona General Hospital in Phoenix; CEO of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern Arizona in Tucson; COO of Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown, Tennessee; CEO of Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois; and CEO of Kingwood Specialty Hospital in Kingwood, Texas, among others. Prior to being a healthcare leader, Honeycutt also served three years as the dean, athletic director and girls’ basketball coach of Oak Mountain Academy, a high school in Carrollton, Georgia.
“Bob Honeycutt has just the kind of drive and expertise we’re looking for to lead Saint Mary’s into the future,” said Kevin Moore, chairman of Saint Mary’s board of trustees. “We are excited to welcome him to our community and to collaborate with him to enhance quality care and services here and advance new initiatives to make our region healthier.”
Honeycutt has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“I’m delighted to join the exceptional team at Saint Mary’s,” said Honeycutt. “I have heard a lot about the system, its community, staff and physicians, and I’m eager to get on the ground in Russellville to begin working with everyone to strengthen Saint Mary’s position as a community partner and place that people choose to come for healthcare, physicians want to practice and employees want to work.”
