Safe Sitter Two-Day Workshop

Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center and the Pope County Cooperative Extension Service invite River Valley teens and pre-teens to participate in this summer’s Safe Sitter babysitting classes. The Safe Sitter course is designed for 11-15 year olds who want to learn how to safely care for infants and young children. Students will receive information on safety and security precautions, the business aspect of babysitting, nutrition and age-appropriate activities. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of infant and toddler CPR and choking rescue techniques, as well as basic first aid. This summer’s next 2-day session is July 8-9. Registration is $35 per student and includes course materials, backpack, t-shirt, tools and a certificate of achievement. Healthy lunches and snacks will be provided. Each day of class is from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the Saint Mary’s Annex. Reservations are required as class size is limited. Call 968-2841 for registration or more information.
